Ylajali
O Machine is one of the several projects of the Portuguese multi-instrumentalist Gilberto Miranda. I was asked to create the imagery of his new record Ylajali. This concept album is inspired by Knut Hamsun´s novel Hunger, which develops around the obsessions of a young writer that slowly looses the sense of reality while getting immersed in his own dark universe.
The photographs revolve around the darkness and coldness that a modern metropolis can often transmit. The grayness of concrete, the sense of disorientation and the light that insinuates from behind those constructions, mental or physical. All images were made using analog processes.
