Timeless Shadows
Any change, no matter how fast it happens, describes a relationship between "before" and "after", and Timeless Shadows intends to capture this contrast. In this series, both the before and after are overlapped in the same image, relying on colors (monochrome & polychrome) and the nature of the object (physical object & ex-shadow) to distinguish both states.
Technique
The base of each image is created by the shadows of different objects when these are placed on top of photosensitive paper. As a result, a photogram is printed. Time passes by, and these objects go through a transformation. A transformation towards decadence, exhaustion or even a point of no return. With this I intend to explore how photographs are mere abstractions of reality, they don't smell, sound, move, neither have the same size as the photographed subject. The inclusion of the physical objects highlights and at the same time compensates these differences. The resulting collages challenge the 2D nature which photography is usually identified with and reveal the tendency to beautify the photographed subjects.
